Χρυσίππη διὰ μῆνιν Ἀφροδίτης εἰς ἐπιθυμίαν ἐμπεσοῦσα τοῦ γεννήσαντος Ὑδάσπου καὶ μὴ στέγουσα τοὺς παρὰ φύσιν ἔρωτας, νυκτὸς βαθείας τῷ προειρημένῳσυνῆλθε, τῆς τροφοῦ συνεργούσης. Κατηχηθεὶς δὲ περὶ τῶν συμβεβηκότων ὁ βασιλεὺς τὴν μὲν ἐνεδρεύσασαν αὐτὸν γραῦν ζῶσαν κατέχωσεν· τὴν δὲ θυγατέρα σταυρώσας διὰ λύπης ὑπερβολὴν ἔρριψεν ἑαυτὸν εἰς ποταμὸν Ἰνδὸν, ὃς ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ δάσπης μετωνομάσθη· ἔστι δὲ τῆς Ἰνδίας νεανικῶς καταφερόμενος εἰς τὴν Σαρωνικὴν Σύρτιν. 2. Γεννᾶται δὲ ἐν αὐτῷ λίθος λύχνις καλούμενος. Ἐλαιώδης δέ ἐστιν τῇ χρόᾳ καὶ ζεστὸς πάνυ· σελήνης δὲ αὐξομένης εὑρίσκεται πρὸς μελῳδίαν αὐλῶν· χρῶνται δὲ αὐτῷ οἱ ἐν ἐξοχῇ τυγχάνοντες. 3.
