ζῷον πολύ τε καὶ ϲύνηθέϲ ἐϲτι καὶ ϲυνεχῶϲ ἁλίϲκεται τῇ λύϲϲῃ καὶ δυϲφύλακτον καθέϲτηκεν, καὶ ὁ ἀπ᾿ αὐτοῦ κίνδυνοϲ χαλεπόϲ, εἰ μὴ πολλοῖϲ χρήϲαιτό τιϲ τοῖϲ βοηθήμαϲιν. 2 λυϲϲᾷ δὲ ὁ κύων ὡϲ τὸ πολὺ μὲν ἐν τοῖϲ ϲφοδροτάτοιϲ καύμαϲιν, ἔϲθ᾿ ὅτε δὲ καὶ ἐν τοῖϲ ἐπί τεταμένοιϲ κρύεϲιν. λυϲϲήϲαϲ δὲ ἀποϲτρέφεται καὶ βρῶϲιν καὶ πόϲιν, καὶ φλέγμα πολὺ καὶ ἀφρῶδεϲ ἐκ τοῦ ϲτόματοϲ καὶ τῶν ῥινῶν προβάλλει, καὶ πονηρὸν βλέπει καὶ ϲτυγνότερόϲ ἐϲτι τοῦ ϲυνήθουϲ· ἐφορμᾷ δὲ καὶ χωρὶϲ ὑλαγμοῦ πᾶϲιν ὁμοίωϲ, καὶ θηρίοιϲ καὶ ἀνθρώποιϲ ϲυνήθεϲί τε καὶ ἀγνώϲτοιϲ, καὶ δακὼν παραχρῆμα μὲν οὐδὲν ὀχληρὸν ἐπιφέρει, πλὴν
