Ἢν δὲ ἐπὶ μᾶλλον αὔξηται, θερμασία δακνώδης ἐν τοῖς σπλάγχνοις, τὸ ἐπιγάστριον ῥυτιδοῦται, καὶ φλέβες ἐν αὐτῷ ἐπαίρονται, ἰσχνοὶ δὲ τὴν ὅλην ἕξιν, τηκεδὼν δὲ τοῦ σώματος γίγνεται δεινή. Ἄλλοι δὲ οὐκ οὐ- ροῦσιν, οὐδέ τις ἄλλη τοῦ πινομένου διαπνοή· τοιγαροῦν ἀκορίῃ μὲν τοῦ ποτοῦ, πλημμύρῃ δὲ τοῦ ὑγροῦ, περιτάσει δὲ τῆς κοιλίης ἐξεῤῥάγησαν ἀθρόοι, χυμοὶ δὲ μοχθηροὶ ἀναποθέντες ἐν αὐτῷ τῷ σώματι τῶν νεφρῶν τὸ πάθος ἐργάζον- ται. Σκοπὸς οὖν ἡμῖν ἐν ταῖς θεραπείαις γινέσθω ἀμαυρῶσαι τὴν δριμύτητα τῶν ὑγρῶν, καὶ δυσκινητότερον τό τε αἷμα καὶ τὴν σὺν αὐτῷ ἀναμεμιγμένην ὀῤῥώδη ὑγρό- τητα ἐργάσασθαι, καὶ τὴν δυσκρασίαν τῶν νεφρῶν ἀνακαλέσασθαι.
