πᾶν φῶς φέρεται. σημεῖον δὲ τούτου μέγιστον τάς τε ἀπὸ τῶν σωμάτων ἀπορριπτουμένας σκιὰς καὶ τὰς ἀπὸ τῶν θυρίδων τε καὶ ὀπῶν φερομένας αὐγὰς κομίζει ἕκαστον δὲ τούτων οὐκ ἂν ἐγίγνετο, καθάπερ νῦν θεωρεῖται γιγνόμενον, εἴπερ μὴ αἱ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἡλίου φερόμεναι ἀκτῖνες κατά τινας εὐθείας ἐφέροντο. ἐπί τε τῶν παῤ ἡμῖν πυρῶν τὰς ἀποστελλομένας ἔφασκεν αὐγὰς αἰτίας εἶναι τοῦ τε φωτίζεσθαί τινα τῶν
