Ψαλμὸς πρῶτος· <Μακάριος ἀνὴρ ὃς οὐκ ἐπορεύθη ἐν βουλῇ ἀσεβῶν.>} Πάντων τῶν καλῶν κρηπίς ἐστιν ἡ μακαριότης, ἥτις ἐν ψαλμοῖς ἀναγκαίως ἀντὶ στεφάνων προτέθειται, τοὺς αὐτῆς ἐραστὰς πρὸς νῖκος ἀλείφουσα, ἵν' ὁ θέλων ἐν τῷ τέλει γενέ- σθαι μακάριος φύγῃ μὲν ἐκθύμως τὴν βουλὴν τῶν ἀσεβῶν, εἰς ὁδὸν δὲ ἁμαρτωλῶν μὴ ἐρείσῃ τὸν πόδα, μηδὲ ἐν καθέδρᾳ λοιμῶν ἀναπαύσηταί ποτε. Ἡ γὰρ βουλὴ τῶν ἀσεβῶν πεσεῖται, ὡς φησὶν Ἠσαΐας, αὐτὸν διὰ ταύτης αἰνισσόμενος τὸν διάβολον. Αὕτη γὰρ ἡ βουλὴ τὸν πρῶτον ἠκόνησε φονέα καὶ σπλάγχνων ἀδελφικῶν ἐνέβαλε λήθην καὶ ξυνωρίδα καλῶν διέζευξε φίλτρου καὶ πενθεῖν ἐδίδαξε τοὺς ἀμυήτους λύπης καὶ τὴν ὑετῶν διψῶσαν γῆν κατήρδευσεν αἵμασιν. Ὅθεν αὐτῷ καὶ καρπὸν ἄξιον τὴν κατάραν ἐβλάστησεν.
