Ἐκπεπολέμωτο γὰρ τῷ θεῷ ἡ φύσις ἡμῶν διὰ παρακοήν, καὶ ἣν ὁ νόμος ἐπέταττεν ἀρετὴν οὐ φυλάσσοντες, ἀλλὰ παιδευόμενοι μὲν ἕως γήρους, οὐδὲν δὲ μᾶλλον βελτίους ἑαυτῶν γινόμενοι τὸν νομοθέτην ὡς εἰκὸς παροξύνομεν, ἃ μὲν δεῖ ποιεῖν τε καὶ μὴ ποιεῖν ἐκμανθάνοντες ὡς μηδὲ ἀγνοίας σκῆψιν ἡμῖν ὑπολείπεσθαι, ποιοῦντες δὲ ἥκιστα μὲν ἃ χρεών, μάλιστα δὲ ἃ μὴ χρεὼν ὡς μὴ μόνον ἀργίας καλῶν ἀλλὰ καὶ πράξεως
