γράφειν ποιημάτων τε καὶ ἀναγνώ- σεως ἔμπειρος διδασκαλία. γραμματικός ἐστιν ὃς ἑνὸς ἑκά- στου πράγματος τὴν δύναμιν καὶ τὴν κυριότητα δύναται σα- φηνίσαι τῇ λαλιᾷ. τῆς τέχνης τῆς γραμματικῆς ἡ τάξις συνέ- στηκεν μέρεσιν τέτρασιν, ἀναγνώσει διορθώσει ἐξηγήσει κρίσει. ἀνάγνωσίς ἐστιν ποικίλη ἑκάστης γραφῆς ἐκφώνησις δουλεύουσα τῷ ἀξιώματι τῶν προσώπων καὶ ἐκτυποῦσα τὸ σχῆμα τῆς ἑκά- στου ψυχῆς. διόρθωσίς ἐστιν ἐπανόρθωσις τῶν πλανῶν τῶν διὰ γραφῆς ἢ λέξεως γεναμένων. ἐξήγησίς ἐστιν ἀσαφῶν διανοιῶν καὶ ζητήσεων διήγησις. κρίσις ἐστὶν ᾧ τὰ ποιήματα καὶ τὰ λοιπὰς γραφὰς διαρτῶμεν καὶ
