Περὶ γὰρ τοῦ ἀββᾶ Μακαρίου ἱστορεῖται, ὅτι ἔλεγεν οὕτω· Καθημένου μου, φησίν, ἐν τῷ κελλίῳ ἠσκήθην. Ὤχλησάν μοι οἱ λογισμοί, λέγοντες· ἄπελθε ἔσω εἰς τὴν ἔρημον καὶ ἴδε τί βλέπεις ἐκεῖ.
