Τοιοῦτός ἐστιν ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ λόγος. Ὅπερ γάρ ἐστιν ἀκόνη σιδήρῳ, τοῦτο θεοῦ λόγος τῇ ψυχῇ. Ἡ ἀκόνη οὐχ ἕν τι χαρίζεται τῷ σιδήρῳ, ἀλλὰ πρῶτον αὐτὸν παρασκευάζει ἀποπτύσαι τὸν ἰόν. Εἶτα παχὺν ὄντα λεπτύνει, ἀμβλὺν ὄντα ὀξύνει, σκοτεινὸν ὄντα λαμπρύνει, σμήχει, φαιδρύνει, ὀξύνει. Οὕτως οὖν ἐστιν ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ λόγος, ποιῶν τὴν ψυχὴν ἀποπτύσαι τὸν ἰὸν τῆς ἁμαρτίας, ἀμβλεῖαν οὖσαν ὀξύνων, παχεῖαν οὖσαν λεπτύνων, σκοτεινὴν οὖσαν λαμπρύνων.
