Εἰσάγει τοίνυν τὴν ἀνθρωπότητα, καὶ τὸ πλάσμα ὅπερ ἐνεδύσατο εἰσάγει εἰς τὴν ἔρημον, ἐμπολιτεύων τῇ νίκῃ κατὰ τοῦ διαβόλου εἰς τὸ σῶμα ὅπλον κατὰ τῶν δαιμόνων. Καὶ πρόσεχε ἀκριβῶς· ὅτε ἠγωνίζετο, οὐδαμοῦ ἔδειξεν τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς ἀξίας. Εἰ δὲ θέλεις γνωρίσαι τῷ διαβόλῳ ὅτι οὐ πρὸς υἱὸν θεοῦ καὶ μονογενῆ ἔχει, ἀλλὰ πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον καὶ ὃ πάσαις ἀκοαῖς λέγει ὁ διάβολος· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, εἰπὲ ἵνα οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι ἄρτοι γένωνται.
