ἐξαλλάττον, ὁποῖος ἐκ τῶν λόγων, ὦ Ἕρμιππε, ἡμῖν ἀναφαίνῃ· πάντα γὰρ ἀτεχνῶς γινόμενος καὶ θεῖα καὶ ἀνθρώπινα συνείρων ὁμοῦ οὐδὲν ὅλως τῶν λεγομένων ἐξακριβοῖς οὐδὲ ξυμ- περαίνεις τὴν ἐφ' ἑκάστῳ σπουδήν. —Καὶ ὀρθῶς, οἶμαι, ὦ ἑταῖρε· ἀκούεις δέ που καὶ σύ, ὡς ἡδύ τι χρῆμα ἡ ἐς ἅπαν μεταβολή· ἄλλως τε δὲ καὶ οὕτως ᾤμην ἥδιον τὸν λόγον διενεγκεῖν, ταχέως ἀφιστάμενος καὶ ἀφ' ἑτέρου πρὸς ἕτερον μετιών· ὃ δὴ καὶ τὸν κόρον ἐπιεικῶς ἀπωθεῖται. —Εἰ μὲν ἐφ' ἅπαντι, ὦ Ἕρμιππε, τὸ τῆς μετα- βολῆς ἥδιον, ποιηταῖς τοῦτο παρῶμεν. πρῴην δέ, ὅτε περὶ ἀστρολογίας διῄεις (οἶσθα δέ, ὅπως ἐρωτικῶς εἰς αὐτὴν
